Department head Young-Jun Son and his students were recognized at the annual Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers conference for their papers on human behavior modeling.
Son and PhD candidate Seunghan Lee received the Best Paper Award in the area of security engineering for “A Hierarchical Decision-making Process in Social Networks for Disaster Management,” a paper that modeled human behavior in response to natural disasters such as hurricanes.
Son and PhD candidates Sara Masoud and Bijoy Chowdhury, along with collaborators from the UA’s Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Ohio State University, received a Best Paper Finalists Award for “A Dynamic Modelling Framework for Human Hand Gesture Task Recognition,” which tracked and modeled the hand motions of expert workers in an agricultural operations facility.
