Research & Internships

Seize Every Opportunity

Put your education to work, refine your skills and gain professional experience – all before graduation!

Gain experience through internships, real-world design projects and life-changing research, and bolster your job prospects.

Pivotal Internships

All College of Engineering students are strongly encouraged to complete at least one industry internship – many of which are paid – typically for course credit. SIE students work at companies such as Boeing, Intel, Raytheon Missile Systems and the Walt Disney Company.

Visit the UA Engineering website for extensive information about the college’s internship program and tips for landing your dream job.

Exceptional Design Projects

The UA Engineering Design Program is crucial to your career readiness. This yearlong experience helps ensure you are ready for the workplace and opens doors to employers.

SIE seniors work on teams with students from other engineering disciplines creating real-world models and products, some of which are patented and commercialized, for industry and academic clients.

Present your project at Design Day, arguably the most exciting college event of the year, prior to graduation. Impress industry partners, see how professional engineers rate your work, and win prizes and public recognition.

Exciting Research Opportunities

Work in the lab with esteemed faculty and dedicated graduate students on SIE research for smart systems for transportation, energy, space exploration and manufacturing.

Join a faculty project or start your own via the University of Arizona’s undergraduate research opportunities.

Explore This Possibility, Too

Hone your business skills in the McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship.
