SIE offers four Bachelor of Science degrees – systems engineering, industrial engineering, engineering management and software engineering. Curriculum for all four provides a well-balanced foundation in systems and industrial engineering.

BS in Systems Engineering
Students pursuing a UA Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering are interested primarily in the design, modeling and analysis of technological systems used for everything from health care to communication to transportation. The curriculum emphasizes these subjects:

- System theory
BS in Industrial Engineering
The Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering focuses on the design and implementation of integrated systems of people, materials, machines, energy and information. Students may take all of their technical electives (PDF) in one or more of the program’s focus areas.

BS in Engineering Management
Students seeking leadership roles in the technology industry often pursue a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Management through SIE. The program incorporates business and management subjects:

- Technical sales and marketing

BS in Software Engineering
Software engineers build the technological infrastructure for our increasingly connected world. They are in high demand across industries and government, working in areas such as:

Curriculum
The systems engineering program emphasizes theory and analysis. Industrial engineering focuses on planning and execution. And the engineering management program incorporates business classes.

Required Minors and Technical Electives
In addition to core courses and prerequisites, systems engineering and engineering management students complete an engineering or thematic minor, consisting of 18 unique units of primarily technical electives. Industrial engineering students do not have a minor requirement but must complete 12 units of technical electives from upper-division coursework.

Advanced Standing
Students must qualify for advanced standing in the College of Engineering before enrolling in upper-division courses.
Advanced standing in SIE requires a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA and completion of specific courses.
