Tips for Getting Started
Admissions to University of Arizona Systems and Industrial Engineering graduate programs are handled through the UA Graduate College. Information provided here is summarized. Please see the Graduate College pages specified below and the SIE Graduate Student Handbook (PDF) for detailed information.

Submission Reminders
We do not offer application fee waivers. Applicants are responsible for covering all associated fees.
- Unofficial transcripts. Official transcripts will be required upon final document review.
- Letter of intent, describing your professional experiences, interest in SIE research area(s), and your career goals
- Minimum of three letters of recommendation
- A detailed resume or curriculum vitae
- Grade Point Average and academic background:
- Minimum grade point average of 3.0 on the last 60 units of undergraduate coursework
- An undergraduate degree in systems engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field
- Other factors that will be considered are a match between faculty and student research interests and any prior research experience
- GRE test scores:
- GRE test scores are optional for both MS and PhD applications. Unofficial scores can be submitted, if admitted official scores can then be submitted.
- MS students looking for funding from the department or the College of Engineering may submit GRE scores for consideration
- GRE Institution Code for the University of Arizona – 4832
- Recommended minimum GRE scores: 153 verbal, 155 quantitative and 4.0 analytical
- Proof of English proficiency is in accordance with the Graduate College's guidelines for international students whose first language is not English. Duolingo scores are not accepted by the Graduate College for demonstrating English proficiency.

Master’s and Graduate Certificate Programs
- Fall Semester: January 15
- Spring Semester: June 1
Doctoral Program
- Fall Semester: January 5*
*The SIE Department will accept doctoral program applications for fall admission until January 5. However, applicants who wish to be considered for priority funding must submit a completed application by December 1. For more information, visit the Graduate Funding web page.
