About SIE

Powerful Agents for Change

University of Arizona systems and industrial engineers are guiding development of some of the most complex systems known to humankind.

From modeling human response to natural disasters and creating connected vehicle technology to developing ways to manage space traffic, researchers have achieved international prestige since SIE was founded in 1961.

UA systems and industrial engineering, the nation’s first academic systems engineering program, offers BS, MS or PhD degrees in systems engineering, industrial engineering and engineering management. The programs prepare students for success with some of the world’s top research institutions and at companies ranging from Raytheon to Walt Disney.

Gain the experience to make any industry operate at its best!

“When one walks into an engineering class, there are women, different nationalities and ages. You can meet someone from the other side of the world and work together in making the world easier.”

"The University of Arizona is home to the first department of systems engineering and has great opportunities for working with space systems, both passions of mine. It seemed only natural to move to Tucson once I was accepted to the program."
