A research collaboration between the University of Arizona and the Arizona Department of Transportation will address ways to recruit, retain and promote women in the transportation workforce.

The two-year, approximately $200,000 research project began last May, after Sally Stevens, executive director of the UA's Southwest Institute for Research on Women, responded to ADOT's request for proposals.

Stevens collaborated with Larry Head, professor of systems and industrial engineering and director of the UA's Transportation Research Institute, to develop the winning grant proposal.
