Subbian Named Arizona Champion
The University of Arizona Office of the Provost recognized SIE and biomedical engineering assistant professor Vignesh Subbian as an Arizona Champion. Arizona Champions are UA faculty and staff members who go above and beyond in their work. Subbian was honored for his work at a UA Men's Basketball game.
"Vignesh is one of our faculty engaging both in biomedical research and data science," Subbian's nomination reads. "He is also leading an effort in College of Engineering in the HSI STEM initiatives. In short Vignesh is one of our key faculty in engineering who advances diversity inclusion within his research strategy and mission. We are proud of his work in servingness and that he is a role model in the college in his efforts."
Subbian is involved with a number of projects, including leading a statewide project studying the long-term effects of COVID-19 with a projected $9.2 million in first-year funding. He is also working to expand data literacy, medical informatics and software engineering.
