SIE Seminar: Angelina Anani
Thursday, October 20, 2022 - 2:00 p.m. (MST)
Angelina Anani
Associate Professor of Mining and Geological Engineering
"Application of Operations Research in Mine Planning"
In-Person at ENGR 301 or via Zoom
Abstract: In this talk, Angelina will discuss the application of operations research methods in mine planning. Specifically, she will present the application of mixed integer linear programming to the optimization of the production schedule of mines transition from surface to underground mining. She will also discuss the use of discrete event simulation for decision support in underground coal mines. Angelina will talk about the usefulness of operations research in the mining industry and some of the challenges faced by researchers in employing such tools today.
