The American Astronautical Society recently elected its 2021 class of fellows. Among the 14 recipients is SIE professor Roberto Furfaro, who works in the areas of space science and artificial intelligence.

According to AAS, the elected fellows have helped build knowledge, further humanity and advance space science.

"Really honored and humbled to be named AAS Fellow, especially considering the caliber of people before me," Furfaro wrote on LinkedIn. "Thanks a lot to my students [at] Space Systems Engineering Laboratory for helping and following my lead, and colleagues [at] UArizona Systems and Industrial Engineering and University of Arizona College of Engineering for being supportive of my mission."

Furfaro was also named in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics' Class of 2022 Associate Fellows
