About SIE

Powerful Agents for Change

University of Arizona systems and industrial engineers are guiding development of some of the most complex systems known to humankind.

From modeling human response to natural disasters and creating connected vehicle technology to developing ways to manage space traffic, researchers have achieved international prestige since SIE was founded in 1961.

UA systems and industrial engineering, the nation’s first academic systems engineering program, offers BS, MS or PhD degrees in systems engineering, industrial engineering and engineering management. The programs prepare students for success with some of the world’s top research institutions and at companies ranging from Raytheon to Walt Disney.

Freedom to Explore

Sam Goldsmith, a systems engineering major working as a quality engineering intern for Raytheon this summer, says SIE provides students with a variety of opportunities to explore.

"I don’t have to be strictly working in one particular field, I can go all over if I so please. The variety is what appealed to me the most!"

Academics Geared to Maximizing Efficiency

Earn your undergraduate or graduate degree in systems engineering, industrial engineering or engineering management. Curriculum includes courses in probability, system theory, information management and production analysis. Collaborative learning environments incorporate discussion and simulation.
