On Friday, Sept. 30, the Arizona Diamondbacks host the San Diego Padres at Chase Field, but the real excitement comes before the first pitch (which will be thrown, incidentally, by OSIRIS-REx principal investigator Dante Lauretta).

All around the ballpark, experts and interactive exhibits will give more than 4,000 K-12 students a major league experience with the third annual Diamondbacks Science of Baseball STEM Showcase, founded by associate professor Ricardo Valerdi in 2013.

Can't make the game? Tune into Fox Sports Arizona during the third inning, and catch Valerdi talking about STEM education in the broadcast booth.
