Welcome Pavlo Krokhmal
Sept. 30, 2010
The University of Arizona Systems and Industrial Engineering Department is proud to announce Pavlo Krokhmal is joining our Faculty.
Prior to joining the University of Arizona, Dr. Krokhmal was a Donald E. Bently Faculty Fellow of Engineering and an Associate Professor of Industrial Engineering at the University of Iowa.
He holds PhD degrees in Operations Research from the University of Florida and in Mechanics and Applied Mathematics from Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University, Ukraine. His research interests include stochastic optimization and risk analysis, probabilistic combinatorial optimization, cooperative control and multi-agent decision making under uncertainty, and data mining.
Recently, Prof. Krokhmal became interested in development of new methods for quantification and optimization of risks in distributed and networked systems, such as power grids, communication networks, and so on. His research in decision making and optimization under uncertainty has been supported by multiple federal agencies, including the National Science Foundation, Air Force Office of Scientific Research, Defense Threat Reduction Agency, Air Force Research Lab.
He is a recipient of the AFOSR Young Investigator Award, National Research Council Senior Research Associateship Award, and several AFOSR Air Force Summer Faculty Fellowship Awards.
He is a Co-Editor-in-Chief of Optimization Letters.
Welcome to the SIE team!
