Valerdi Receives INCOSE Best Paper Award

Associate professor of systems and industrial engineering Ricardo Valerdi and co-author Mauricio Peña of the Boeing Co. were honored for the best paper in Systems Engineering, the flagship scholarly journal for the International Council on Systems Engineering.

Their article, "Characterizing the Impact of Requirements Volatility on Systems Engineering Effort," aims to understand the causes of requirements volatility, its impact on systems engineering effort and its changing dynamics over the system life cycle. The journal's editorial board recognized it as an outstanding contribution to systems engineering theory, practice or perspectives.

The award was announced at the 2016 INCOSE Symposium in Edinburgh, Scotland.
