Sustainability Efforts Draw University Fellow to SIE

José Luis Ruiz Duarte, a doctoral student in systems and industrial engineering, was named one of the University of Arizona's newest class of University Fellows. The prestigious program provides financial support, professonal development and community engagement to top-ranked incoming graduate students in a wide range of disciplines.
Ruiz Duarte holds bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Sonora, Mexico, where he conducted research on optimization and data analytics. At UA, he is investigating how these and other systems engineering disciplines can be used to develop and integrate solar energy systems.
