Like Team 25011, Team 25015 members (from left) Samantha Fisher, Joseph Lee and Will Zupancic are preparing for Design Day with a prototype of their cable pulley system.

An Interdisciplinary Capstone team led by systems engineering major Nyhel Sekulic is working to optimize a design for a novel seaplane they developed as a prototype during the fall semester ahead of the Craig M. Berge Design Day scheduled for May 5.

Team 25011’s long-range amphibious seaplane design uses a streamlined, blended wing body design.

“The wings merge with the body to improve aerodynamics,” said Sekulic.

Produced with feedback and support from sponsor The New Nose Company, the students’ design could one day be used for tasks like maritime surveillance and search and rescue operations.
