Jalilzadeh Serving as 2023 INFORMS Diversity Ambassador

SIE assistant professor Afrooz Jalilzadeh will serve as a 2023 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Ambassador for INFORMS (the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences). The ambassador program provides a platform to unite groups of academics, graduate and undergraduate students, and staff to foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive INFORMS community. In the role, Jalilzadeh will work in K-12 outreach, focusing on an early introduction to operations research. The INFORMS DEI Ambassador Program is supporting these projects with grants of up to $2,500.

INFORMS is the largest professional association for the decision and data sciences, comprising operations research, analytics, management science, economics and more.

Jalilzadeh received her bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Tehran and her Ph.D. in industrial engineering and operations research from Pennsylvania State University. She joined SIE in 2020.
