Interim Department Head Ricardo Valerdi Recognized as INCOSE Fellow
Each year, the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) selects a handful of fellows who have made significant verifiable contributions to systems engineering through industry, government or academia. Ricardo Valerdi, the interim head of SIE, is among the 2022 honorees.
“I am humbled to be recognized with this honor by leaders in the systems engineering profession, many of whom I consider mentors,” Valerdi said. “When I was a graduate student, I read their books and journal articles. Now I am considered one of their peers. Crazy.”
Valerdi received the award for his work advancing the theory and practice of cost estimation and measurement in systems engineering.
“It was pleasure to recognize Ricardo as a 2022 INCOSE Fellow at this year’s INCOSE International Symposium held in Detroit,” said Marilee Wheaton, INCOSE president and Systems Engineering Fellow at the Aerospace Corporation. “Having been a colleague and friend of Ricardo’s for 20 years, I can personally attest to his significant contributions to the systems engineering field. This honor is well deserved.”
