A team of students won an award for the engineering category at the Biological, Engineering, and Chemical Undergraduate Research (BECUR) Conference hosted by the UA Biochemistry Club. The students presented their engineering senior capstone project, Microfluidic Devices for the Isolation and Characterization of Circulating Tumor Cells, to other faculty, student, and industry researchers at the conference. The project consists of designing, fabricating, and testing microfluidic devices for capturing tumor cells and being used as an alternative to current biopsies for detecting cancer in patients. The project sponsor is Dr. Yitshak Zohar, a professor for the AME/BME departments.
