Alum Kurt DelBene Confirmed as Department of Veterans Affairs CIO

Kurt DelBene, who graduated from the University of Arizona with a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering in 1982, has been confirmed to the Department of Veterans Affairs after being nominated by President Biden in November 2021. In his new role as chief information officer and assistant secretary for information and technology, DelBene will manage the tech portfolio and cybersecurity for major divisions at the VA.

DelBene previously worked nearly 30 years with Microsoft, in multiple roles including Microsoft Office president. He also served as senior advisor to the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

DelBene was the College of Engineering's 2015 Alumnus of the Year and part of the 2018 industry speaker series.
