Paul Wach

Researcher of Systems Engineering

Paul Wach is a systems engineering researcher with the Department of Systems & Industrial Engineering at the University of Arizona (U of A). He describes his joining the department as "coming home," as much of his research is based on the work of A. Wayne Wymore.

Wach recently joined U of A from the Virginia Tech National Security Institute, Intelligent Systems Division. His research and development efforts focus on the intersection of systems engineering, digital transformation and agentic AI. Notable recent work includes recognition from his peers in the form of a best paper award for his work in providing empirical evidence for verification and validation (V&V) of AI generated systems engineering artifacts. The research is currently being applied to the naval, air, space, energy, manufacturing and education domains in efforts that are poised to expedite and reimagine the digital transformation. Wach’s prior experience includes roles with The Aerospace Corp., Department of Energy, two national labs and the medical industry. He holds a BS in biomedical engineering from Georgia Tech, an MS in mechanical engineering from the University of South Carolina and a PhD in industrial & systems engineering from Virginia Tech.
